Confession.
I love Western Swing music. Sometimes called Texas swing.
Bob Wills. Asleep at the Wheel. All those fiddles and steel guitars.
My
husband Jim and I will be taking a trip to Nashville and the Great
Smoky Mountains this month. We intend on going to the Grand Olde Opry,
touring the Ryman Theater, and visiting the Country Music Hall of Fame.
To prepare, I've been listening to a lot of country music, past and
present.
Recently, we discovered The Marty Stuart Show which
airs on Family Network on Saturday night at 8 p.m. Those are his new
shows. Older shows are run on Sunday at 9:00, followed by Live at Daryl's House,
where Daryl Hall features many of today's young musicians (Diane
Birch), as well as some golden oldies (Todd Rundgren.) These music
shows are now our weekend anchors.
Last
night, Marty Stuart featured the Quebe Sisters Band -- three sisters
with fiddles who sing like a dream. I can't stop thinking about them
today, as they are carrying the wonderful tradition of western swing.
There are several videos on You Tube, but this was one of my favorites. Sit back and enjoy some good ol' swing music:
